Station 3, located in Marlkress Road, was built in 1972 as the headquarter station for Deer Park Fire Company, replacing the smaller, older station pictured below which was on Route 70. The station was constructed to house the larger type of apparatus of the day and to provide facilities for the many firefighters who responded to this the station to handle the increased calls in the established and rapidly growing neighborhoods in the area.
This site also offered easy access to Route 70, at the Marlkress intersection, which gave, and still gives, our firefighters a quick response to the many neighborhoods
it serves and to the commercial and industrial properties in the area. Also, a larger site was sought to accommodate plans to build a comprehensive training facility. The design of the training grounds was state of the art and has been maintained that way since this station opened.
Today, Station 3 is staffed 24 hours a day by Cherry Hill Firefighters.
